Tickled pink is a good way to describe how we all felt at the end of the Pink Tombola in the Spires on Saturday 18th October 2014. During the past few weeks people readily responded to requests for good quality pink goodies to be brought into Cherry Lodge for this event and our barrow was completely full when people came to buy their ‘Three for a Pound’ tombola tickets.
The display looked almost too good to be disturbed but needs must and before long the money was flooding in while the pink items were snapped up by everyone lucky enough to have a ticket with a number ending in a 0 or a 5. One lovely box of pink lily bulbs was won by a little girl called Lily which was very gratifying.
This was a most successful event – we raised £477.59 – with people generously buying tickets or simply making a donation to the charity. Our Pink Tombola gave some the opportunity to look back over bleak times when they had needed the services of Cherry Lodge while others had a chance to get some information for themselves or relatives.
Huge thank you to all those who organised this event, helped stick on the numbers and made the stall look so beautiful. Special thanks must go to the young gentleman with the flowing pink locks who was such a great help! You know who you are, Tim!!!
