Cherry Lodge Cancer Care was delighted to hold a Thank You Tea Party for Volunteers at Howard House on Tuesday 4th June 2019. This event took place during national Volunteers’ Week, which takes place each year from 1st to 7th June. This is an annual opportunity – initiated in 1974 by NCVO – to celebrate and thank the millions of people in the UK who already volunteer and to encourage others to join them.
The Cherry Lodge tea party was hosted by Yvonne Shield (CL Volunteer Coordinator) and Kirsty Mabb (CL Outreach Nurse). Also on hand to offer thanks were volunteer trustees Margaret Clark (CL Chairman) and Sarah Armitage (CL Vice Chair). The party was attended by some 20 guests, representing the varied and vital roles played by volunteers at Cherry Lodge, including shop helpers, van drivers, receptionists, admin helpers, fundraising volunteers, counsellors, befrienders and complementary therapists. They were treated to a selection of delicious cakes, biscuits and fruit as well as tea, coffee and/or prosecco! There was also a raffle. Everyone got along famously, sharing their different experiences of helping Cherry Lodge.
Without the contribution of its many volunteers, Cherry Lodge would not be able to provide its wide range of information and support services, all completely free of charge to people affected by cancer.
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care sends a big THANK YOU TO ALL OUR MANY VOLUNTEERS! Your help is very much appreciated.
