On Saturday 10th March 2018 the Holiday Inn at Elstree rocked to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s ‘Swing and Rat Pack Night’. Some 70 people had a truly great time at this very well organised fundraising event. Having been welcomed with a glass of Prosecco or fruit juice, people were able to participate in the splendid ‘Rat Pack Raffle’, organised by Annys and Kim, and featuring some very good prizes indeed, including a night for two at the Holiday Inn.
The evening’s entertainment started off with singing by Dean Gee (click on his name here to enjoy a taster of his vocal skills). Dean was joined by Natalie Good, who not only has a lovely singing voice but is also an amazing dancer, and people began swaying in their seats, excited by the sounds of the Rat Pack. After a short break and a delicious hot buffet, the party mix music became louder and more energetic, and before long people were dancing most enthusiastically to a mixture of Swing/Bublé/Rock ‘n’ Roll/pop 50s-80s, in short something for everybody.
As the accompanying photographs show (as well as various write ups on Facebook), this was an evening enjoyed by all, and even those less able to dance were soon on the dance floor displaying great gusto. Without giving away any names (confidentiality is of paramount importance at Cherry Lodge), one person was so energetic on the evening that for several days afterwards they could hardly move!
Many thanks to all those involved in organising this event, Tina, Annys, Kim and Sue – and for the wonderful support provided by the staff of the Holiday Inn. They could not have done more to make this a really fantastic evening.
