On Sunday 2nd July 2017, Norman and Myra Goldberg once again opened their lovely house and magnificent garden to hold their annual charity brunch in support of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and Parkinson’s UK. It was a beautiful summer’s day, so this year, unlike in some previous years, people were able to enjoy the outside space.
The day could not have been better organised and everything ran like clockwork from start to finish. The brunch was eagerly awaited and much appreciated, consisting of a mouthwatering assortment of sandwiches and beautiful cakes. In keeping with the weather there were also tons of strawberries and lots of slices of refreshing water melon, all tastefully displayed. Seemingly bottomless supplies of tea, coffee, squash and bottled water were served by Cherry Lodge volunteers, who also manned the well stocked tombola stall, which raised £560. Two Cherry Lodge therapists were also on hand, offering Reiki and reflexology.
Entertainment was provided by professional vocalist David Diamond, whose wide range of songs was greatly enjoyed. Also very enjoyable, but with a more serious purpose, was the lively auction conducted by host Norman and his ‘brother’ Brian, which raised £480.
As in previous years, Margaret from Cherry Lodge and Carole from Parkinson’s UK spoke about their respective charities, thanked the Goldbergs for their continued hospitality and generosity, and also thanked everyone attending for being there and spending so freely in support of these two very good causes.
