This Cherry Lodge Cancer Care event on Saturday 22nd July 2017 was a great success, with people braving the rain to come to be entertained with an evening of poetry and song. Despite the weather there was standing room only as well over thirty people packed the ground floor of Howard House.
Each poet initially read two of their own works, which were interspersed with songs from the three singers. This produced a varied and interesting programme that kept the audience entertained for over an hour. The performances were followed by refreshments and an opportunity to socialise.
Thanks must go to Dennis for suggesting the event and then organising the programme, with assistance from Sarah with the songs. Thanks also to the singers and all the poets; to Yvonne and her team of helpers for setting out the seating and clearing up afterwards; and finally a special thanks to Sue for all the delicious cakes which she kindly provided.
An amount of £192.05 was raised from a door admission charge and donations.
Thank you to Mark for providing the above account of what was clearly a very enjoyable evening and an opportunity for several Cherry Lodge members and their friends to show off their poetic and musical prowess.
