For many years, Barnet Rotary Club has been a friend and supporter of Cherry Lodge.
On 18th May 2015 Barnet Rotary kindly invited our fundraiser, Barbara to attend their monthly meeting held at Old Fold Manor Golf Club. Barbara was given an opportunity to talk about Cherry Lodge and to show how important our services continue to be: 900 people attending our various outreach services as well as some 200 new members being welcomed to our Barnet centre over the last 12 months. Barbara’s talk was well received, with the reply on behalf of the Rotary given by Ginette Baker.
Whilst the meal and the company were of course enjoyed, the presentation that followed was far beyond anything that anyone could have expected. Brian Coleman, President, presented Barbara with a very generous donation of £2,225; this was made up of £225 from a recent Quiz Evening and £2,000 from a Rotarian who wished to remain anonymous.
As you can imagine, Barbara was overwhelmed by the gift and gave heartfelt thanks to all members of the Rotary. She confirmed to her audience that the money would be used for a specific purpose and it was agreed these funds would go towards the cost of our drop-ins and to help in providing more fun events for the members.
Just to say thank you seems so little in response to such a wonderful gift, but to have continued support from Barnet Rotary really does mean so much to everyone at Cherry Lodge.
