Volunteering Opportunities
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care offers a range of volunteering opportunities. We hope that, having read the information below, you will be inspired to join us and make a difference to someone living with cancer.

Volunteers at Cherry Lodge Cancer Care have a wide variety of backgrounds and skills. Please come and share your skills and expertise with us. There are also opportunities for people with no particular skills but a desire and willingness to be of help in some way.
Administrative Support
If you are an organised person with computer skills then we could use your help. We are looking for someone who can also assist with general office duties such as photocopying, and helping to organise and send out mailshots to our 2000 supporters.
For further information call our Administrator Tina Papasavva at tina@cherrylodegcancercare.org.uk.
Complementary Therapists
Are you a registered complementary therapist offering help in the following areas: Reiki Healing, Spiritual Healing, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology?

We offer short sessions of complementary therapies to our members at our Drop-ins. These are held every Tuesday from 10:00 to 13:00, and each first and third Thursday of the month from 18:00 to 21:00. Full sessions are available at other times in the week by special request.
If you are able to help us as a complementary therapist, please contact Fiona Kiddle at fiona@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
Drop-In Helpers
We are looking for people to help with our Drop-Ins, which are held every Tuesday from 10:00 to 13:00 and each first and third Thursday of the month from 18:00 to 21:00. Drop-Ins are a hive of activity and an informal support group. People can drop in for a chat, for short sessions of complementary therapies or to talk to the nurse.
We are looking for people who, in this very busy setting, can welcome people, explain how to borrow books or access services, or just have a supportive chat.
For further information contact Fiona Kiddle at fiona@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
Fundraising Volunteers
It's not just about shaking a tin or running a craft stall. You can also help with Cherry Lodge's fundraising activities in other ways.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us plan and run a whole range of fundraising events. You may just want to help with specific events. Or, if you have regular time and energy to spare, you may like to join our Fundraising Committee, which generally meets monthly and looks after some of the day-to-day fundraising activities that are so necessary to keep Cherry Lodge going.
If you would like to help with fundraising activities, contact Theresa Bowman at theresa@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
Home Visiting - Befriending
Home Visitors provide regular weekly befriending support to people living with cancer in their own homes. The time given can vary but is usually for an hour or so a week.
The purpose of the service is to provide emotional and practical help to people living with cancer, give respite to carers, help people regain confidence and reduce anxiety and isolation. Support can include collecting prescriptions, accompanying on hospital or GP visits, emergency shopping, and being a listening ear when family and close friends may find this difficult.
If you have time to spare, are non-judgemental and can understand the profound difficulties an ill person can face, then please contact our Home Visiting Manager Sue Rose at sue@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
Receptionists
Reception is a vitally important front line service. Volunteers staff our reception area five days a week.
We ask our receptionists to offer one morning or afternoon per week. Duties include answering the telephone, welcoming visitors to the centre and putting people at their ease, dealing with merchandise purchases, checking appointments and dealing with routine enquiries.
If you are familiar with dealing with the public, enjoy meeting people or have reception experience, then we would like to hear from you.
For further information call our Administrator Tina Papasavva at tina@cherrylodegcancercare.org.uk.
Trustees
Being a Board Member means that you can help influence and shape the future direction of the charity. Meetings are generally held in the evening at the Centre ten times per year.
If you have expertise in finance, business administration, fundraising, grant making, art and design, IT and healthcare, then we could put your skills to good use.
For further information call our Chairman of the Trustees Margaret Clark on 020 8441 7000, or email our Administrator Tina Papasavva at tina@cherrylodegcancercare.org.uk.
