Homeopathy
Homeopathy offers a gentle, natural and holistic approach to help counteract health-threatening imbalances. It works on the principle of 'like cures like' - meaning an illness can be treated with a substance that produces similar symptoms in a healthy person. It treats the person, rather than the disease, and is a method of healing suitable for everyone.
Homeopathy is very flexible. It can safely be used as an alternative to, or in conjunction with, conventional medicine. Many patients who come for homeopathic treatment also take conventional drugs.
How does Homeopathy work?
Homeopathic medicines are drawn from a variety of natural sources such as plants, minerals and metals, and go through a process known as 'potentisation'. This produces minute diluted energetic doses of the original substance. The remedies have a powerful therapeutic action and stimulate the body's own healing mechanism. They are a totally safe form of medicine with no danger of addiction, toxicity or side effects.
Homeopathy is able to treat the underlying causes of disease, rather than just the symptoms and has a number of excellent benefits:
- It strengthens the immune system so that the body is more able to resist disease
- It is a great benefit after surgery or dentistry
- It is effective as a natural support to a person undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy
- It also helps to correct energetic imbalances in the body before the appearance of more serious symptoms of disease
What can Homeopathy treat?
- Stress-related problems, such as depression, fear and anxiety
- Cancer-related symptoms or side effects of medication, such as nausea, constipation, insomnia
- Improve immune response
What will your homeopath need to know?
In order to find the right remedy for you as an individual, your homeopath will need to know all about you. A detailed understanding of who you are, along with any complaints and details of how you experience them. So anything you can tell your homeopath that is typical of who you are will help this process. Finding out about your general energy level, your past medical history and the way you live are also important. Anything you say will be treated in the strictest confidence. The initial consultation usually lasts one and a half hours, and follow-up appointments between half an hour and three quarters of an hour.
