Complementary Therapies
Fully qualified therapists can provide a course of planned individual therapies, whose purpose is to complement orthodox treatment by providing relief, relaxation and increased immune response, and also helping a person regain control within their life.
Following an initial meeting with a qualified health care professional at Cherry Lodge, there will be an assessment and an opportunity to hear what support is available. You may then request, or we may offer you, a course of a particular therapy.
At Cherry Lodge, we currently offer the following therapies, totally free of charge to Members.
Acupuncture
A part of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture seeks to regulate and correct the imbalances of the body's energy systems.
Aromatherapy & Massage
The aromatherapist will massage you with selected essential oils to promote relaxation and feelings of well-being. Aromatherapy may not be carried out on parts of the body that are undergoing radiotherapy.

Bach Flower Remedies
These are a range of liquid tinctures made from the flowers of various plants. The different Bach remedies, which are taken orally in tiny doses, act to improve a person's emotional state.
Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique has been described as a most significant innovation in manipulative therapy. Pioneered in the 1950s by Tom Bowen in Australia, it was brought to Europe in 1993 where it has gained an impressive reputation amongst health professionals such as physiotherapists, osteopaths and GPs.
The Bowen Technique is a remedial therapy in which the therapist uses small, rolling-type moves over precise points on the body
Homeopathy
Homoeopathic remedies support the body's natural tendency to heal itself, and work on the principle of 'like heals like'. They consist of highly diluted, tiny quantities of natural substances.
Homoeopath does not treat specific symptoms, but looks at the whole person. After an initial consultation, the homoeopath will prescribe a remedy specifically for you.
Indian Head Massage
This is a non-invasive form of therapeutic massage, with optional use of oils, which promotes symptomatic relief and deep relaxation.
Reflexology
This therapy treats the whole body via the feet or hands. Reflexologists use their thumbs and fingers to apply gentle pressure to specific areas of the recipient's feet or hands in order to promote healing elsewhere in the body.

Reiki Healing
This is a form of healing which energises and balances the body's energy centres through the hands of a trained healer.
Spiritual Healing
The healer channels a life force into the receiver, which enhances the receiver's own self-healing processes.
